As part of an LSTA grant program entitled School Librarians As 21st Century Leaders, the Office of Library Services presented Kathleen Baxter on Connecting Boys with Books on January 28th at Scholasatic Headquarters in Manhattan. More than 100 librarians took an educational journey with the dynamic Kathleen Baxter, the author of Gotcha! Series of professional books. During this full-day workshop, School Library Journal columnist Kathleen Baxter, the Nonfiction Booktalker, shared her practical experience gained from booktalking to thousands of elementary and middle school students. Participants learned strategies to engage and motivate reluctant readers with particular attention paid to inspiring and energizing boys through reading non-fiction.
